5th June Lunar or Full Moon Eclipse:
Moon at 21 Vedic Scorpio in Jyestha Nakshatra – 16 Western Sagittarius
Sun at 21 Vedic Taurus in Rohini Nakshatra – 16 Western Gemini
21st June New Moon or Solar Eclipse:
Sun and Moon are at 6 deg Vedic Gemini in Mrigashira Nakshatra, in the 4th Pada: the Scorpio Pada.
In western astrology, this eclipse is at 0 deg Cancer.
See the western and Vedic charts for these eclipses on my June astrology info page: //www.starwheelastrology.com/2020-june.html
Parallel to the energy of 9/11?
These eclipses could be dangerous. It is conjunct Rahu by 1 degree, and it is the case that two eclipses of 2001, the year of the 9/11 twin towers, were on June 21st and December 14th, that year too.
Rahu conjuncts the great star Betelgeuse, whose energy is like Mars. Mars casts an aspect on this eclipse.
See further analysis below.
This Blog post and video is about the two eclipses in June 2020, and it is part 4 of my five-part June 2020 Starwheel Astrology and Healing Newsletter.
I believe I describe these two eclipses competently and well, and they will be powerful in your life in the life-area of the House they fall in in your Vedic chart, and even more so if they fall near one of your planets or your ascendant.
Eclipses can be downfall and disaster. But they can also be the undamming of your talent and soul energy. So, remember, even if things feel dark and tense, this IS your opportunity. Have confidence. Study the nature of the eclipse. Study is it activates planets that are wounded in some way. Then visualise the Healed You. You can get in touch with me for a Reading and you can book any Healing that you feel is crucially indicated now with my wife Maggie Pashley.
N.B. You can see the western and Vedic astrology charts for these eclipses by clicking the link for the relevant month on my Starwheel Astrology 2020 web page: //www.starwheelastrology.com/2020.html
Note that there are more eclipses than usual in 2020: six in 2020:
January 10th Full Moon
June 5th Full Moon
June 21st New Moon
July 5th Full Moon
November 30th Full Moon
December 14th New Moon
So, you see from this list that the six weeks period from the start of June 2020, has a heavy tense energy with three eclipses.
There’s two eclipses in June 2020 and there’s a third Eclipse on 5th July, all building up to a big New Moon eclipse on 14th December.
So, there’s an exceptional number of eclipses in 2020. And we do need to know about them and how they affect our life.
Eclipses tend to release dammed up tension in our lives. They are like an earthquake. Earthquakes often occur at the time of an eclipse, when the strain in the plates of the Earth’s crust builds up too much, and an earthquake occurs. It’s the same in our life.
Eclipses also tend to reveal what is secret or shadow in our consciousness. I don’t say this in a sensationalist way. Essentially, they bring this material to the surface for us to heal and empower.
Fear and tension occur on the day of an eclipse (and on surrounding days) if that eclipse occupies a prominent place in your birth chart. Unconscious patterns can suddenly be brought into glaring clarity for us to deal with them during this period. Make a not if you identify an issue. Work to heal it. work to empower yourself.
Now let’s go into the detail of the June eclipses:
5th June Lunar or Full Moon Eclipse:
Moon at 21 Vedic Scorpio in Jyestha Nakshatra – 16 Western Sagittarius
Sun at 21 Vedic Taurus in Rohini Nakshatra – 16 Western Gemini
See the western and Vedic charts for this eclipse on my June astrology info page:
//www.starwheelastrology.com/2020-june.html
Because this is a Lunar Eclipse, a Full Moon eclipse, its effect will be immediate, certainly within one month. (Note that by contrast, Solar New Moon Eclipses, like the one on June 21st, take longer to have their effect, often waiting until a planet transits across the stagnant eclipse energy the eclipse leaves at its point in the heavens).
So, how do we interpret the effect of this eclipse in your life?
Well, first of all, the Moon is debilitated in the sign of Taurus, anyway. So, to have en eclipse Moon in Scorpio can be even more difficult for the stability and happiness of the mind.
- Which of your Planets are affected?
Eclipse on your Planets:
If you have any of your natal planet or Ascendant close to the Sun or Moon of this eclipse, or close to the Nodes of the Eclipse, it will have a big effect in your consciousness/life.
And if you have your natal Sun Moon or Ascendant, there, the effect of this eclipse will be very major for you.
See the webpage giving some guides as to interpretation of what the nature and energies of each planet is:
//www.starwheelastrology.com/planets-interpretation.html
- Which House in your birth chart is affected?
Eclipse in a House in your birth chart:
The affairs of Houses in your Vedic birth chart that are the eclipse signs Sagittarius or Taurus will be affected.
To understand the area of life covered by the House that is Sagittarius or Taurus in your individual Vedic natal chart, have a look at this web page:
//www.starwheelastrology.com/houses-interpretation.html
So, for example, if you are a Cancer rising, you can see from this Houses help page that this eclipse is in your 5th House of children and creativity, and also purva punya or past life merit. If you are on course in your life, maybe there will be a burst through of your creative energy, just for one possibility. If you are off course in your life, there could be a major event to do with your children. Scorpio, the sign of this eclipse is ruled by Mars, remember.
For a second example, if you are Scorpio rising, there will likely be a big change as to how you project yourself into the world, and your health could be affected, especially if the eclipse is close to your Ascendant degree. The more wrong for your lifepath and destiny is the way you are projecting in the world and the way you conceive you have to be in the world, then the worse the effect of this eclipse will feel, because a death and rebirth is needed. But if you are on course, obstacles could drop away and you will project yourself more correctly for your Dharma and soul-purpose, and successfully.
- Which of your Nakshatras is affected?
The nature of an eclipse’s energy is also massively altered by the Nakshatra it falls in. See my Nakshatras buzz-words webpage for basic guidance about each Nakshatra:
//www.starwheelastrology.com/nakshatras-interpretation.html
So, this June 5th eclipse is in Jyestha Nakshatra.
Jyestha is ruled by Mercury, so the energy of Mercury in the heavens will be affected (and it’s not easy already for June). But Mercury in your chart will also be affected: the Houses that Mercury occupies and rules, the significations for Mercury, and also the two other Mercury ruled Nakshatras will be affected: Ashlesha and Revati. And all three of these have Gandanta zones at the end of the Nakshatra, which are very sensitive and rooted in the hurt or blessing of the impermanent.
But looking more closely at Jyestha Nakshatra where this eclipse falls, Jyestha aims to have standing in life, but also has propensity for abandonment and betrayal. It is occupied by Antares, one of the four Royal Stars of Persia. Royal Stars can give great gifts but there is a nemesis to overcome before the desired for higher status can be achieved, so success will come after a cleansing or cathartic life and death transformative experience. Jyestha is associated with Alaxmi or ‘bad luck’). There is an energy of Nemesis, so they need to be careful not to become the authors of their own misfortune. At their best, they are honoured and intent on their dharma. But so often their spiritual pathway can be rather dogmatic.
This eclipse will force some Jyesthas to go through catharsis, with the divine intention being for them to learn how their egoic personality has played a part in creating their hardships and catharsis – so that they can align more to their True Self, so that they can align to their Divine Nature. Jyestha is at the end of the Tamasic group of nine Nakshatras (the 27 Nakshatras are divided into three groups or ‘Lokas’). It is preparing the individual to leap in to the Sattvic.
Jyestha is ruled over by Indra. Indra is the king of all the gods. He is also the god of thunderstorms, lightning and fierce weather. Control of the emotions and opening to the Sattvic is a call of this Nakshatra.
Each Nakshatra has four Padas (or quarters). This eclipse is in Jyestha Pada 2. Each pada of each Nakshatra has a unique different energy. Jyestha Pada 2 is the Capricorn Pada, so its energies include the right path and hard work.

- Deeper Analysis of an Eclipse:
So the sorts of steps you need to include are as follows. Let’s take the example of if this eclipse is conjunct your Ascendant:
Examine the planet ruler of your ascendant sign. What sign and house is he placed in? What are the issues described in both western psychodynamic astrology and also Vedic Astrology? Are any Healing Issues declared that the Eclipse will most certainly raise to the Light? Is Chiron involved? Is the planet Pushkara? Vargottoma?
Examine the condition of the Nakshatra the Eclipse falls in and Nakshatra pada, and also the state of the ruler of Nakshatra and pada. What is this Nakshatra really about? What is its planet ruler, ruling deity and powerful Star energies?
Check if any transiting planets are in strong aspect to the eclipses, e.g. square, or conjunction.
Check out whether transiting Rahu is heading into the eclipse, conjunct it or has passed it.
If it’s a Lunar Full Moon eclipse, expect pretty immediate results.
If it’s a Solar New Moon Eclipse expect later results, for example you can try out the rule that one minute of the eclipse’s duration means the results will manifest one year later, and also note when a transit by a malefic planet is due to cross through the patch of eclipse energy left in the heavens by the Solar Eclipse.
Check out if the eclipsed planet or planet/House ruler ties into or amplifies the current Dasha ruling planets.
Check out where the western psychodynamic predictive Age Points are at the time of the eclipse (the Individuation Age Point and the Nodal Age Point).
So, let’s look in more detail about the energy structure of this particular 5.6.2020 eclipse.
The very big thing, here, is that the Sun-Moon axis is T-square the conjunction of Mars and Neptune.
Neptune energy is huge at this time, so much so that I have done a special standalone add on blog post to the June Newsletter.
But do note that to have Mars conjunct Neptune T-square an eclipse means that we will ALL be affected by the positive and or negative effects of Neptune.
And you will particularly feel this if you have a planet conjunct the Sun or Moon of this eclipse, and also if you have a planet conjunct the Neptune Mars conjunction associated with this eclipse.
So, Mars is at 21 Vedic Aquarius in PurvaBhadra Nakshatra, that’s 15 deg Western Pisces
And Neptune is at 26 Vedic Aquarius, also in PurvaBhadra Nakshatra, that’s 20 deg Western Pisces.
The affairs of the House in your birth chart that is Vedic Aquarius will most definitely be affected. To understand the area of life covered by the House that is Sagittarius or Taurus in your Vedic natal chart, so have a look at this web page:
//www.starwheelastrology.com/houses-interpretation.html
If you have a major Neptune aspect to one of your natal planets (e.g. Sun conjunct or opposition Neptune natally) or if you have a cut-off Neptune subpersonality, or if Neptune close to one fo your chart aspects, you will feel the effect of this eclipse and of Neptune’s transit now.
Do make sure to see my separate blog/video on Neptune.
21st June New Moon or Solar Eclipse:
Sun and Moon are at 6 deg Vedic Gemini in Mrigashira Nakshatra, in the 4th Pada: the Scorpio Pada.
In western astrology, this eclipse is at 0 deg Cancer.
Again, the big thing to notice is that this eclipse, too, is square the Mars/Neptune conjunction, which is big.
Neptune is at 26 Vedic Aquarius; Mars is at 1 Vedic Pisces
(20 Pisces and 25 Pisces respectively using the western tropical zodiac).
See my separate video and blog post on Neptune.
Note that Mars is two degrees from, and closing on the fixed star Scheat. This star is linked to exteme misfortune, murder, suicide and drowning, but if you can survive calamity you can connect to a great flow of mental creativity.
This eclipse is in the 4th and final Scorpio pada of Mrigashira. And this pada includes and energy of sudden inspiration, and so from 20th May to 22nd July while Rahu transits Mrigashira pada 4, do be open to inspirations that come from nowhere and are very out of the box and unexpected.
Parallel to the energy of 9/11?
This eclipse could be dangerous.
This is big!: Personally I wonder if this eclipse series will fan the racial and social protest happening in the USA. And I wonder if that protest is also pat of the societal reset that the Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto conjunction is bringing at the energetic level, furthered by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic at the event level.
But the possible difference this time, is that now Rahu has just left Ardra and so Rahu will be at 4 deg 58 Gemini, a degree past the eclipsed Sun/Moon at 6 deg 12 Gemini. Whereas in 9/11 Rahu was just still in Ardra at the time of the June 21st 2001 eclipse, at 12 Gemini 43, and so headed straight into the eclipse energy, then.
We shall see what difference that 1 deg 14 that Rahu is past this eclipse makes. Given that this eclipse could well be considered an eclipse tat is conjucnt Rahu then the parallel with the energy of 9/11 could be very real.
Mrigashira can be spiritual and searching, so look out for those qualities coming more into your consciousness and your life.
Mrigashira’ shakti is the power to give fulfillment, so this could be a good time to commit to a new strategy or to make a wish. Mrigashira’s ruling deity is Soma, and so watch out for un-thought-of ideas now, with quick manifestation.
But on the potentially negative side, note the rulership of Mrigashira by Mars. Take care that what manifest in your case is the divine Mars, the divine warrior, not the ratty, violent low-manifestation Mars.
You might suddenly find yourself very tense or getting into arguments. The Mars-ruled signs of Aries and Scorpio will be most prone to the danger of not a so nice Mars invasion into their consciousness and behaviour, and the other Mars ruled Nakshatras too: Chitra and Dhanishta.
Mrigashira’s energy includes instability, and being all over the place, and problems in making commitment.
Do watch out for irritable violent speech or too much talking. This eclipse is in Vedic Gemini. Mercury is in Gemini at the time of this eclipse. Sun is in Vedic Gemini from 14th June to 16th July. So, this will heighten even more the Gemini downside.
If you have a planet in Vedic Gemini, see the webpage giving some guides as to interpretation of what the nature and energies of each planet is:
//www.starwheelastrology.com/planets-interpretation.html
Which House in your birth chart is affected?
To understand the area of life covered by the House that is Gemini in your individual Vedic natal chart, have a look at this web page: //www.starwheelastrology.com/houses-interpretation.html
So, to give a couple of House examples:
If you are Gemini rising, this eclipse is in your 1st House, so big change is on the way for you. The divine meaning of the earthquake that is on the way should be seen as the highlighting of where your life is off course, leading to putting your life on course for your spiritual life purpose, destiny and dharma. And if you are on course already at this time, then success is on the way. And of course, Gemini is ruled by Mercury, which is caught up in this Eclipse, so change positive or negative.
If you are Vedic Cancer rising, this 21st June Eclipse will be in your 12th House, so positively this could be good for spiritual insight, or work in foreign parts. But more challengingly, could mean quite a crisis in such areas as illusion or addiction or losses or too high expenses.
If you are Virgo rising, then the eclipse is in your 10th House of career, so there could be some sudden realisation or event there. And of course, Virgo is ruled by Mercury, which is caught up in this Eclipse, so change positive or negaitve.
If you are Libra rising, this eclipse will be in your 9th House of higher learning and spirituality. So, if you are off course in those areas, this could be a helpful crisis. But if you are on course in those areas, you could manifest a wonderful opening in your learning.
