Northern hemisphere winters will become gradually longer – Climate Change

Ceidhe 9Climate Change and the Earth’s Orbit Eccentricity

Over the next 10,000 years, northern hemisphere winters will become gradually longer and summers will become shorter.

Have you ever wondered why there is so much evidence of climate deterioration since the Bronze Age in Ireland??

Have you ever wondered how it was the Romans could grow grape vines on Hadrian’s Wall in the 2nd Century AD??

This worsening of weather in the Northern Hemisphere is due to the fact that the Earth’s orbit has been becoming less circular (i.e. more elliptic) and will continue to do so.

Incidentally, you also have to take into effect the other trend known as ‘global warming’: This will mean that the weather will get even warmer in the Southern hemisphere where the effect of global warming will therefore intensify the effect of the earth’s orbital change, causing great upheaval. But the effect of global warming in the Northern Hemisphere will be more complicated because of the effects of ocean current changes.

In the Bronze Age, the eccentricity of the Earth’s Orbit away from circular was only 0.0034. Now it is 0.0167; but it is heading towards 0.058.

This cyclical movement of the Earth’s orbit from circular to elliptic is caused by the gravitational attractions among the planets.

See the attached image that I saw in the museum at Céide Fields Stone Age settlement in County Mayo, Ireland. 6,000 years ago, there was a wonderful agricultural community there. Now it is blanket bog many feet deep, covering the remnants of a culture destroyed by human deforestation and climate change.

Climatic Effect

As the orbital eccentricity gets more extreme, the seasons that occur on the far side of the orbit become substantially longer in duration.

Over the next 10,000 years, northern hemisphere winters will become gradually longer and longer and Northern hemisphere summers will become shorter.

N.B. this is NOT the ‘Precession of the Equinoxes’ effect (which is completely different).

To make matter worse, any cooling effect in one hemisphere is balanced by warming in the other hemisphere.
