I recently had a very important enquiry from a woman who wrote: In my search for answers regarding my Atmakaraka I came across your blog where you mention that your Atmakaraka is Moon, that it’s Vargottama and is Gandanta at 29 Pisces 55.
She wrote: I have exact same data except my Moon is at 28 Pi 33. It is in the 6th house in both Rasi and Navamsa, In Rasi it conjuncts Saturn and Rahu. In Navamsa it is by itself in the 6th house as well. I’ve wracked my brain trying to figure out the significance of this on my spiritual life and what I need to focus on and make a priority.
This question uses three terms from Vedic Astrology that are so immensely valuable in understanding your life – if they apply to you. What do these terms mean?
- Your Atmakaraka is the planet of greatest longitude in any sign in your vedic birth chart. It embodies a powerful issue: an issue carried over unfinished from a previous lifetime. Dasas/Bhuktis of the Atmakaraka planet can be especially turbulent this life time, with the divine purpose of putting us on course for the issues of the AK planet.
2. Vargottoma means that a planet is in the same sign in the vedic birth chart as in the vedic Navamsa chart. This means that your soul will always be sending you pure and spcecial messages throughout your life so that if you hear them and heed them you can really perfect the life issues represented by that planet. The technique used to study the message of your soul from Navamsa chart to birth chart is called Rashi Tulya and is taught in my Vedic Astrology Course, see below.
3. Gandanta is an immensely powerful phenomenon that you do need to know about in order to fully understand your life. And you need to do something about it as well: healing and empowerment. Gandanta occurs when a planet is situated in one of the three transition points from water to fire signs in your vedic birth chart. The definition of Gandanta varies with author. My first course gave it as + or – two degrees. A more recent course gave it as + or – three quarters of a degree.
I have found from experience that the first definition is true, but that obviously the second definition points to a more intense Gandanta experience. The closer the planet is to the actual sign transition, the more tight is the spiritual knot indicated by the gandanta status. Remember, the more we try to untie the knot, the more it tightens, especially in the case of the Moon. Moon is definitely the most difficult of the Gandanta planets to have. It is the hardest to do anything about.
I have just completed Rahu-Moon Dasa, and the changes brought so hugely to my life were awesome and hard to live through but did me so much good.
May I suggest you consider joining one of my courses to study the concepts focused on in this blog post.
All my courses avoid legalism and all are geared to healing and empowerment and the teaching methods include art work and embodiment.
I am currently putting out a huge set of webinars for each course. All my Vedic Course can encompass western astrology crossover if the student wishes, and vice-versa.
As you will see from the upcoming webinars, the perception of the signs and planets I teach is very much geared to deity, myth, archetypes and also the principles of western psychodynamic and evolutionary astrology.
I would love to hear from you.
My western course website is www.enlightenedastrologycourse.com.
Or you can start with either or both of my Vedic Astrology Courses:
