Astrology Mini Reading : What are the key Qualities that drive your Life? The Gunas

In this Astrology Mini Reading, Michael Conneely explores the Gunas in your Vedic Astrology Chart – but he does this with totally invaluable full Western Astrology cross-referencing as well.

The three Gunas are:
Rajas = passion and desire
Tamas = materiality and darkness
Sattva = spiritual goodness

In Vedic Astrology, there’s the powerful description of the three ‘Gunas’: the different qualities of our nature.

This valuable Astrology Mini Reading analyses and reveals how these key qualities drive your life, so that you can identify them, heal and empower as you learn about them.

It also reveals how your particular individual profile will affect your relationships.

This Astrology Mini-Reading supports you in applying to this ancient Vedic wisdom.

But it does this with thee most valuable additional dimension of cross-referencing what your Western Astrology has to say on this topic as well.

Chiron: The Wounded Healer

And this includes Western Psychodynamic Astrology and Evolutionary Astrology, the astrology of the western Gods of Change: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, plus Chiron: your Wounded Healer Astrology.

It is actually immensely valuable to know what the balance of these qualities in our nature is said to be, and to hear careful consideration of these issues. This way you get really deep and useful understanding, healing and empowerment.

In more detail, the three gunas could be described as follows and also linked to the energies of the planets:

Rajas: impatient, desire filled, Brahma and Saraswati, greedy. Venus and Mercury. Rajas is the energy spark of the soul which is incarnating in the world. Rajas gives activity.

Tamas: Orientated to work in the world of matter, dull, unconscious, destructive, without thought or compassion, Shiva, Balarama) Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. Tamas is when the soul comes into this world and immerses itself into materiality. Tamas is about materiality and the material world.

Sattva: pure, balanced, sustaining, high level consciousness, truth, Vishnu and Jagannatha, awareness. Sun, Moon and Jupiter. Sattva is about going beyond the material world.  It is about the soul wanting to return to its heavenly home.  Sattva represents ‘purity’.

Vedic Astrology also uses a wonderful, beautiful and powerful 27-Lunar Zodiac called the Nakshatras. Each Nakshatra represents certain gunas.  We can include this dimension of awareness in your course. Here’s an example:

I could now share with you an example that could mean that me and my partner Maggie Pashley have real balance in the gunas between us, but it’s not that simple at all, and in fact we are pulled in very different directions.
You see, one of the ways we can assess how the gunas will feature in your life are by looking at the Nakshatras that your planets fall in. the Nakshatras are the wonderful 27-sign lunar zodiac of vedic astrology and as such they give peerless indication of our emotions and our consciousness arising therefore, and they make incredibly accurate declaration into so many areas of our life. In the Nakshatras offer a declaration of the gunas that will manifest from a planet’s placement in a particular Nakshatra down to three levels: see next paragraph.
Now the point of this is that Maggie’s Moon is at 1 deg in Vedic sign of Aries (using the sidereal zodiac) which is in Ashwini Nakshatra, and so it creates a very desirous script: Rajas, Rajas, Rajas = must have it all and must have it NOW! Of course, we can benefit from knowing the declaration of our Gunas, but also, we do need to move beyond that depiction and develop more enlightened transformation and transform, heal and empower around it.
And the second point is that my Moon is the total opposite, at 29 degrees vedic Pisces in the gandanta zone at the end of Revati, the 27th and final Nakshatra. And Revati’s Gunas declaration is: Sattva, Sattva, Sattva! I would say this makes me incredibly spiritual. But there are those who accuses me of being impractical!!!

And by strange symmetry, my Sun is at 1 degree Vedic Libra, which is in Chitra Nakshatra, whose Gunas typology is Tamas, tamas, tamas. So how am I to cope with the unutterable difference between my Sun and my Moon?

Of course, it is so valuable to have this perception because it explains and makes clear what in earlier times in my life was the source of utter confusion and being pulled in one direction which entailed I trashed the needs of the other direction!

So, for this reason, in all my worldwide courses and readings, i always offer gateways of healing and empowerment to deal with the perceptions about your life that Vedic astrology so wonderfully offers.

It would be great to work with you.

Focus of Study:
Importantly, as with all my courses, the focus of study on the selected special Mini-Course theme, is studied with reference to two charts: yours and mine. The benefit of this approach is that it ensures authenticity and trust. We develop an excellent working relationship.

There’s the very special benefit that I am extensively trained in both Vedic and Western astrology, I have a wide academic background, I have spent five years studying individuals and communities following spiritual pathways new to the modern West, and above all I am very caring and I pride myself in supportively enabling and developing your studies as far as your need to go.

Healing:
In addition, I run a healing Centre in the West of Ireland together with my partner Maggie Pashley and so we work with a wide range of healing modalities face to face there, as well as worldwide by internet, and so, very importantly, I am able to gear your astrological project of study to your healing and empowerment and to the achievement of the very special spark you came here to manifest. Always the perception you gain is geared to healing and empowerment. See our Healing Centre in the West of Ireland: http://www.foxfordairbnb.com/retreats.html

My Readings Approach:
My approach in these Mini-Readings is always so caring and expert. I am so very dedicated to supporting your study, your self-knowledge, your healing and empowerment – the fulfillment of your totally best destiny.
I was an undergraduate at Oxford University in the late sixties and so I bring to you the very best of the Oxford University tutorial system. This is focused individual tuition with the aim of bringing out the very best in the student. Totally individual dialogue between student and tutor is conducted, in this case by email.
I have five university degrees, including two from the University of Oxford. I have qualifications in Counselling. I have studied many astrology courses covering both Vedic and Western Astrology.

My background:
I have also taken part in a five-year university-based field study, a social-anthropological ethnography based mainly in Glastonbury. This involved studying Communities, Institutions and Individuals following Spiritual Pathways new to the modern West. The focus pathways were Hinduism, Buddhism, paganism, shamanism and utopian community.
So, I hope this very brief presentation of the contribution of both Vedic and western astrology has been of value to you, and will serve to show the great benefit of studying the topic of your incarnational life purpose. It would be great to work with you.
I hope you will consider enrolling on one of my Vedic Astrology worldwide courses. These are very caring and well-resourced and they are enthusiastically taught. There’s opportunity for western astrology cross-over if you wish. Always the interpretation is non-formulaic.
