Astrology and Healing Newsletter March 2018 from
Maggie Pashley and Michael Conneely
Here’s the March 2018 issue of Maggie Pashley and Michael Conneely’s ‘Astrology and Healing Magazine’. The Astrology of March 2018 and Healing Old Pain: Old Pain to Go.
It’s brought to you on the first weekend of every month, from their Healing Centre on the beautiful Atlantic Coast of Sligo in the West of Ireland.
As always, there’s a presentation from Maggie’s vast range of Healing Techniques offered both in our Centre and also Worldwide. And Michael offers a helpful description of the astrology of each month in both Western and Vedic Astrology, and how to handle these energies.
First of all, Maggie talks about helping people become pain-free with OldPain2Go®.
This month I’d like to introduce a new technique that I’ve recently learned and have been getting some amazing results with clients using it. It is called OldPain2Go® and in a session I help people dialogue with their unconscious (actually much easier than you think!) to release long-standing pain.
OldPain2Go is the brainchild of Steven Blake who developed it over a period of seven years and still continues to refine it. I was fortunate to train with Steven himself and experience first hand how effective and versatile this approach is and benefit from Steven’s insights and years of experience.
Pain has a purpose of course. It grabs our attention and tells us something isn’t right and we may need to take some action. For example, you might have a fall, have a momentary feeling of pain or discomfort and be able to carry on or it may be a much higher intensity of pain and you may need to rest, see a doctor or even go to hospital. However, once we have taken the required action the body can generally heal itself.
It is when pain lingers on and in a way serves no purpose – we already know we have vulnerability in an area, or arthritis or an old injury – that it becomes a problem. The pain can often wreak havoc with our life, restricting our activities, affecting our mood, and generally our ability to enjoy life. It can also affect our friends and family as they watch us coping with pain. And of course it is not easy to run around and play with our children when we are in agony.
Those pain messages are like old answerphone messages telling us we have a back problem over and over again and we already know that. Those old pain messages can also be so loud that they make it harder for us to be alerted to any new pain messages that we need to pay attention to. What if we could delete those pain messages like old answerphone messages? That is what we aim to do with OldPain2Go® and many people can testify to its effectiveness. Watch the wide range of testimonials on Steven’s site.
So what happens to the underlying condition. Well we aren’t dealing with that we are dealing with the old pain messages but as we release that old pain and along with it tension and inflammation, blood circulation improves and the release of tension can allow our body much greater freedom to re-balance. If you are having medical treatment, of course, you need to continue to work with your doctor or specialist. You may need to pay attention to your body’s signals asking you to slow down, or stretch or move in a particular way. You can generally feel more active and able to enjoy being out of pain.
With the people I have worked with all of them except one had their pain go down to zero and the remaining one had a significant reduction in pain levels. It is certainly better than taking pain-killers which often aren’t completely effective and come with side-effects.
So you might ask: if I don’t have the pain won’t I be at risk of forgetting I have ……(fill in the blank for whatever condition applies). Well no, either than condition may improve along with removing the pain and indeed it often does, or your body will alert you with new pain if there is something you need to be aware of. More importantly, you’ll hear the new pain messages better as they won’t be drowned out by the old messages.
So if you have chronic pain which affects the quality of your life, or if you know somebody who has and is open to a new approach, check out the videos below – my website or Steven Blake’s website and get in touch. I offer face to face sessions in Co Sligo and on-line sessions via zoom or skype worldwide?
In the video below you can watch me talk about OldPain2Go® and the video below that is a video of a client’s reaction to a having a session dealing with an old standing back pain issue

An added bonus to OldPain2Go® is it helps you dialogue with your own unconscious which can be useful for all sorts of things relating to your body.

Michael Conneely with The Astrology of March 2018:
I have enjoyed writing this newsletter about the fascinating and powerful, creative and inspired and sometimes fraught astrology of March 2018.
I think there’s a lot of insight and good guidance here, and I’d be most happy if you wanted to take it further by having an astrology reading with me, or by enrolling on one of my many very informative and invaluable astrology courses.
I also offer many other healings and courses, and I would say that my astrology readings and courses benefit from cross-referencing to these as well. I hope to hear from you.
For your background info, please see my two helpful website pages: ‘charts for 2018’ and ‘Planets Info 2018’.
www.starwheelastrology.com/2018-astrology
www.starwheelastrology.com/2018-planets
Please note that what you can see in these web pages is the position of each planet, at the start and end of the month, eclipses, lunations, and so much more, with all charts shown in both western and Vedic Astrology.
Remember, Western astrology uses the Tropical Zodiac and is a psychological depiction, whereas Vedic Astrology uses the Sidereal Zodiac and is an Incarnational Life Purpose and Destiny depiction. The difference between the two zodiacs is currently 24 degrees.
Salute to the great power of Uranus Energy:
Uranus continues his slow inexorable, wired and ultimately ferocious passage forward through early Vedic Aries, through Ashwini Nakshatra.
And I am hearing of so many people with natal planets there in early Vedic Aries who are now feeling such fiery flux of new inspiration, change and innovation, and who are bringing into being such a current of revolution in their lives and consciousness.
And also, I am hearing similar from those who have natal planets opposite there, in early Vedic Libra.
And there’s the square aspect from Uranus too: I know of young people whose lives have been revolutionised following experience of this Uranus transit being square their natal Uranus: restraining situations ditched; horizons transcended, new vistas secured!
Yes, often there can be outbursts and irritable words, frustration storms. And also, sometimes circumstances force people the hard way, on to the path to the fulfilment of their destiny needs.
But once (and if) they recognise, and give form and strategy to, the new current of inspiration and revolution, then their lives get so much more purposeful, and so much more fulfilling and beautiful and happy.
Often, childhood issues and bodily-held blocks rise now to be recognised and healed so that we can go forward in this vanguard of the great Uranus progress.
Often, relationships will heal and grow because of the liberation energy that Uranus now offers to people in early Vedic Aries/Vedic Libra, or square to that.
I know quite a few people with planets in Ashwini Nakshatra in early Vedic Aries, who are newly embracing their potential for healing powers and techniques as Uranus transits through Ashwini, or exiting Ashwini Healers who are adding new extensions to their healing repertoires. The ruling deities of Ashwini are the Ashwini Kumaras, who are the divine physicians. I think a lot of the impetus to heal is because Ashwini is the first Nakshatras after the Pisces/Aries Gandanta, and I think a planet rising out of the immaterial, unconfident Gandanta is driven to find inspiration and meaning, and driven by panic, indeed, to HEAL.
And I would note that this inspiration and healing ability I mention is so much more creative, fulfilling and inspiring than over-reliance on Mantra or traditional remedies, which in my observation, can imprison, be over-formulaic, or create rigidity. Mantra has it definite healing place but should not be used in an imprisoning way.
Salute to the oceanic force of Neptune’s Energy:
Neptune continues at 19 Vedic Aquarius (13 western Pisces) in Shatabishak Nakshatra. Neptune is so powerful, and he can be devastating. So often he can be associated with illusion, deceptiveness, material loss, physical weakening issues, and indeed alcohol misuse. But his positive power is the ocean current of vision. I am seeing people experiencing conjunction or opposition from this transiting Neptune, who are healing their lives through experience of vision, increased sensitivity, increased intuition, even clairaudience and clairvision. Neptune transits Venus:
I myself have this Neptune transiting opposition my natal Venus, and I am well into filming an online Tarot course, AND we are creating an Irish Gods and Goddesses Tarot Pack!!!
With a colleague in Chicago, a deeply spiritual musician, artist and theatre producer, we are creating video montages with music and voice presentation for the Gods and the Goddess of the ancient Irish, for the Ogham and the Runes: the sacred alphabets of the ancient Irish and Norse peoples (courses for which I’ve taught for 25 years), for the ancient Sacred Sites of Ireland which abound round here, and to present the mystical energy work of the ancient Irish Druids, plus promos for my earth spirituality novels: Rune Magic, Sacred Earth, Druid and The Tribe… AND I am inspired and progressing fast, my writing of my novel about the Gods and Goddess of the ancient Irish,
and there’s so much more…. ….
Jupiter turns retrograde from 8th March to 11th July 2018.
Jupiter will have reached 29 deg Vedic Sidereal Libra, that’s 23 western Tropical Scorpio, on March 8th when he turns retrograde.
Jupiter remains Retrograde until 11th July at 20 Vedic Libra.
Check out which House Libra is, in your Vedic birth chart, to see the accurate prediction of what area of your life Jupiter will have been showing his blessings and expansion in since he entered Vedic Libra in September 2017.
For maximum blessings in this life area, you do of course need to check the standing of Jupiter in your birth chart (and in all your Divisional or Vedic Varga charts), and you also need to check out the number of Ashtakavarga points given to Jupiter by the sign Libra.
And also of course you also need to identify what planets you have in Vedic Libra, each of which Jupiter will activate by transit at this time.
And please do note that, in fact, the Dasha or predictive period you are in, in Vedic astrology, is in fact is the bigger governor of how powerful any transit will be in your life.
Note that planets in your birth chart and in your transits only perform at their very fullest if you are in the Dasa of that planet.
So, this means that if you are in Jupiter Dasa, now, then this transit of Jupiter through Libra will be at fullest power, and Jupiter will probably be at his very best.
However, to predict and understand the effect of this Jupiter transit, you do also need to take into your account the standing of Jupiter in your birth chart for how well your Jupiter dasha will feature, and also take into account how Jupiter treats your other planets and how your other planets treat Jupiter.
I like using Lajjitaadi Avasthas table for this assessment, and the table in kala software is very good for assessing planet’s standing and inter-relationships in your birth chart.
I have been blessed by this Jupiter transit, in that Libra is my 4th House, and we moved to a new house to a most lovely remote spot on the Atlantic coast of Sligo, almost to the day when Jupiter entered Libra, AND, I am in Jupiter Dasa, and my natal Jupiter has very high scores across the Varga charts and within the Lajjitaadi Avasthas calculation I mention above. So, this has brought me such wonderful blessing and purpose, and such expansion in my work, and, indeed, the house we moved to has brought such wonderful comfort, scope, possibility, support and blessings, and the area it’s in is total inspiration and utter beauty.
The widely spread-out hamlet once housed seventy people fifty years ago, but now only five houses are left, and the others are in disappearing ruins due to depopulation (indeed, over the last two hundred years), but then I do have Ketu in my 4th House, so this fits totally!
And note importantly that Uranus is also casting an aspect on Vedic Libra from where Uranus transits at the beginning of Vedic Aries. And this brings revolution and inspiration to people with planet in early Vedic Libra.
BUT, note most importantly, that now, in early March, Jupiter is turning retrograde. So, if you have been receiving a lot of inspiration and if you have been drawn to expand, well: once Jupiter turns retrograde, this will be the time to ‘put your money where your mouth is’, and ground and manifest, strategize and give substance to all your aspirations.
Do this needed consolidation work.
Don’t let it be a ruined crop!
Mercury turns Retrograde from 23rd March to 14th April, 2018.
At the start of his Retrograde, Mercury will be at 22 Vedic Pisces/16 Western Aries. Try to get ready for the effects of Mercury Retrograde, now, by getting all your filing and admin and other communications, done and in good standing.
I personally have literally thousands of documents to keep track of, and most complicated IT demands.
But Mercury is actually Retrograde in my birth chart (and he is conjunct Ketu/South Node and Mercury is Lord of the 12th!), so no matter how hard I try to get all my IT and communication systems into order, I always find out the many, many dimensions which I just didn’t get ready enough. It’s like being a dyslexic!
There are those who say, I believe accurately, that Retrograde planets in our birth chart indicate issues pertaining to that planet that we didn’t get right in a past life.
So, the curse (I mean gift) in this life, is that we have to take very extra special attention to the demands and affairs of that planet in this life time.
So, I hope you manage to get a lot better prepared for Mercury Retrograde period than I ever seem to!
Double-check and update!
Try not to bogged down by misunderstandings. Try if possible to sort them out! Be careful of mistakes. Double check details of financial transactions.
So, in summary, Mercury turns Retrograde at on 23rd March at 22 deg Vedic Pisces. He turns direct on 14th April at 10 degrees Pisces in UttaraBhadra Nakshatra. But it is most important to note that the Mercury retrograde effect do not fully sort out until Mercury attains his pre-retrogradation position, which will be on 3rd May at 22 Vedic Pisces.
But on the positive side, I suppose I am forced to concede that Mercury Retrograde periods do offer us endless chances to sort out, improve and upgrade our systems!
But, what do we make of Mercury in Vedic Pisces? Mercury transits Vedic Pisces March 2nd to May 9th.
Note that Venus is also transiting Vedic Pisces until March 26th.
And note that Mercury is considered debilitated in Pisces. What I would say is that Mercury’s rationality and Pisces’ intuitive currents can need careful handling.
Though what I personally would also say, though, is that the combination can produce inspired and intuitive expression.
And, of course, Jupiter’s energies enter this mix, as Jupiter rules Pisces. And although Jupiter is Retrograde, too, I do think there could be a lot of beauty, intuition, inspiration, death and rebirth, creativity and sensitivity, as a result of, this complex and infinite subtle weaving of sometimes far-out beauty and energies.
Mars Saturn Conjunction in March 2018:
Mars starts the month of March at 20 western Sagittarius/26 Vedic Scorpio. Mars enters Vedic Sagittarius on March 8th.
Mars is action. Sagittarius if Fire. Mars is aggressive and independent. Sagittarius is orientated to beliefs. Mars transiting Sagittarius will impel us to act on the basis of what we believe.
BUT, in addition to this, note that by the time that Mars enters Vedic Sagittarius, Saturn is already transiting at 13 Sagittarius.
So, this means that both Mars and Saturn are in Vedic Sagittarius, together. Mars’ conjunction with Saturn becomes exact at 14 deg Sagittarius on 2nd April, in PurvAshadha Nakshatra.
and note that Pluto is meanwhile at 26 deg Sagittarius, which is still PurvaAshadha.
So, this means that if you have planets in Sagittarius they will experience a Mars transit in March
And indeed, they will also be affected by an ever-closer growing Mars-Saturn conjunction, which will become exact on 2nd April.
Now, it’s important to realize that the energy of Mars conjunct Saturn is bumpy and antagonistic:
Mars wants to go, go, go, and in Sagittarius, he will most impatiently and desirously and even aggressively want to expand, expand, expand, achieve, achieve, achieve, and as fast as he can – he’ll want to get things done either today, or preferably yesterday! And he will brook no opposition. And he will be fuelled by your own fierce yearning to achieve.
BUT Saturn is conjunct Mars and Saturn, Lord Shani, is Lord of Karma. He insists on patience, diligence, hard work, dotting every i and crossing every t.
Guess how the two of these get on with each other!!!
Your big question: Will Saturn restrict Mars building up to explosion?
OR will Saturn direct and structure Mars, and strategize to produce achievement?
And answer this: is the choice in this question within your control and up to you, or is it NOT?
When Mars meets Saturn, Positive energy or Aggressive destruction, meets with limits based on Fear or Necessity/Practicality!
Guess how you will be left feeling in your body and in your consciousness as Mars and Saturn slug it out??? Frustrated yes. Ill: well – possibly, yes! if you are not careful to use and successfully act on this perception I am offering here!!!
And do check out the affairs of the House that Sagittarius represents in your Vedic birth chart.
AND please do note that this Mars-Saturn energy can be managed in a harnessing and healed way, now that we have heard this perception.
AND also note that this Mars-Saturn energy is potential extremely good support for technical projects.
AND it is very good support for DIY work, especially if such is overdue. Given that Maggie and I are at the forefront of the Wild Atlantic Way tourist industry (well that’s my story), I have to lay asap before the beginning of the west of Ireland Tourist Season, a concrete foundation and then build a lean-to extension then plumb and wire that, so I suppose I must say a grudging (I mean grateful cheerful) hallo to this imminent union of Saturn and Mars!!!
Saturn actually enters PurvaAshadha Nakshatra on 3rd March (where Pluto is transiting), staying in PurvaAshadha until June 5th.
Mars enters Vedic Sagittarius in Mula Nakshatra, but Mars then joins Saturn in PurvaAshadha on Mach 31st.
So, there will be a close Mars-Saturn conjunction in PurvaAshadha from 3rd March to June 5th.
This is because, in fact, Saturn does turn Retrograde on 18th April at 15 Sagittarius, re-entering Mula Nakshatra on June 5th. But Saturn ends his Retrogradation on 1st September at 8 deg Sagittarius. And then, Saturn re-enters PurvaAshadha Nakshatra on November 28th, not finally leaving Sagittarius until 24th January 2020.
N.B. To have Mars, Saturn and Pluto all in the same sign, Vedic Sagittarius, is an explosive containment energy that is quite something, and do see my comments on the gathering Saturn-Pluto conjunction in the last issues of this Magazine: February 2018.
Mars and Saturn will form exact conjunction with each other on 12th January, 2020. This will be at 28 Vedic Sagittarius, which is 22 western Capricorn, in UttaraAshadha Nakshatra.
Note that this IS AN immensely powerful conjunction. You can see the chart for the exact moment of this Saturn Pluto Conjunction at the foot of my website page: https://www.starwheelastrology.com/2018-astrology.html
However, returning to the present conjunction of Mars and Saturn in PurvAshadha Nakshatra, do note that PurvaAshadha Nakshatra is ruled by Venus, so when Saturn is transiting long-term in PurvaAshadha, this will be good for giving form to love, and also giving form to art.
However, there is the question of how these two will cope with Mars, and also note that this consolidation and structuring of beauty will need to be balanced with explosive regenerative Pluto
Have you got planets in Vedic Gemini?
Well given that three planets: Mars, Saturn and Pluto are all transiting opposite in Vedic Sagittarius, people with planets in Vedic Gemini need to be very careful during March. Indeed, Saturn transits in Sagittarius until 2020, so they will have some element of restriction and difficulty to deal with until 2010.
Venus in Vedic Pisces:
Venus moves into Vedic Pisces on 2nd March. Venus is exalted in Vedic Pisces. And this means that people with Venus in Pisces in the Vedic birth chart can be very attuned to a higher vibration of the nature and reality of love. It’s refined and compassionate. And because Jupiter rules Vedic Pisces, the two Gurus combine this month their very different focusses.
I have found it interesting to compare the ‘Alice Bailey Rays’ of these people. I offer psychodynamic and Evolutionary western astrology as well as Vedic Astrology, and I love Megastar psychodynamic astrology software, which offers an extrapolation from the western birth chart, a statement of the Alice Bailey Rays a person is born to work with this time. Often people with Exalted Venus have an emphasis of Ray 2 Love and Wisdom and Ray 6 Devotion and Idealism.
What are the Seven Rays? Well, the Seven Rays came down to us from Alexandrian Egypt. Alexander ‘The Great’ conquered it in about 300 BC and set up the Ptolemaic Pharaoh Dynasty, which ended with Egypt coming under the heel of Rome and the infamy of Cleopatra, and by weird coincidence this was at the similar time to Queen Boudica (Boadicea), Queen of the Iceni in the East of England
and Queen Cartimandua of the Brigantes in the North of England who, like Cleopatra and at the same time, both had to deal with Rome, and of course there’s also the famous Queen Maeve of Connaught of the West of Ireland at this same time, who’s coronation mound is near where I live at the wonderful Rathcroghan Visitor’s Centre.
However, to get back to the Seven Rays, Alexander’s conquest of ancient Egypt meant there was an influx of Greek philosophers to Egypt, and these Greek Philosophers met Egyptian Priests, and the result was … that the Seven Rays passed over to the West.
The knowledge of the seven rays was preserved in Europe by the Medieval Jews through the long centuries of the persecutions of the Roman Catholic Church, and was then disseminated by Alice Bailey a hundred years ago. For a modern book on the Seven Rays, read: “The Seven Rays Made Visual” by Helen S. Burmeister.
But to get back to Venus, Venus is joined in Vedic Pisces on 3rd March by Mercury, and on the 15th March by the Sun, and then on 17th March by the Moon.
Importantly, note that Venus is transiting in Vedic Pisces which is ruled by Jupiter, and at the same time Jupiter is transiting in Vedic Libra ruled by Venus. This is a powerful Parivatana yoga.
However, as I said above, Jupiter is Retrograde at the time, but I do feel we can perceive, feel, understand and use this energy, and so March could be a good month to create love and beauty. Mercury and Venus being both in Pisces will help each other at this time.
And due to the Parivatana yoga of Venus in Jupiter’s sign of Pisces, and Jupiter in Venus sign of Libra, Jupiter and Venus in Pisces will help each other too.
Venus in Pisces is a healing energy, but note that malefics Mars and Rahu/North Node are both casting aspects on Pisces in March. So, this will bring a rather fraught introjection of energies and emotional issues. Resentment at issues from our past may surface. It will be so valuable if we can heal these or create boundaries around these.
Anecdotally, on the subject of dealing with torturing family issues from our past, you might like to hear that when we visited the utterly beautiful Loch Key Forest Park near Boyle recently, and we found to our amazement that the lovely gift shop was selling ‘Watchover Voodoo dolls’ (children’s’ versions!) and one of these was called The Equaliser. And The Equaliser with its burning red eyes addresses past and present hurt and injustices, with the statement:
‘Happiness is the Best Revenge’.
Notwithstanding the fierce injunction of The Equalizer, I do think the complexities of transits in Vedic Pisces, with Chiron being there too, could make for a powerful, creative and healing tide! It would be good to be awake and ready and taking note of healing and creative opportunities in March.
Chiron changes western/Tropical signs next month:
Chiron, the Wounded Healer, has been transiting western Pisces for the last 8 years, and next month, in April Chiron transits into western Aries. This is quite a big change of psychological energy. We are at the end of sensitive dwelling into our woundedness, the psychology of Chiron in western Aries brings a new jolt of clarity and action into our healing, and in the healing of ourself, we can become the Healer of others.
Venus in Vedic Aries:
Note that after crossing into the Pisces-Aries Gandanta, Venus leaves Pisces and enters Aries/Ashwini on 26th March, reaching 6 deg Aries by the end of the month. Of course, Venus meets Uranus already transiting in Venus Aries, and this energy could be quite inspired, new and creative, to say the least.
The Sun:
The Sun starts March at 16 Vedic Aquarius (10 western Pisces). The Sun finishes March at 16 Vedic Pisces which is 11 western Aries).
So, the Sun transits Vedic Pisces from March 14th to April 13th.
Importantly, note that Vedic Pisces receives aspects from malefics Mars (in Sagittarius) and Rahu (in Cancer). So, do note that this affects the Sun, and also the New Moon of March 17th
And, importantly, note that this New Moon is conjunct Chiron at 28 western Pisces/ 3 Vedic Pisces.
The Equinox:
The Equinox is March 20th, the day when the day-length grows longer enough to equal the length of the night, and form this day onwards, the days get longer than the nights.
Lunations:
There’s a Full Moon on 2nd March at 17 Vedic Leo/11 western Virgo
(Moon in PurvaPhalguni Nakshatra, Sun in Shatabishak)
There’s a New Moon on 17th March at 2 Vedic Pisces/27 western Pisces
(Moon in PurvaBhadra Nakshatra)
And a there’s a Full Moon on 31st March. Sun in Vedic Pisces. Moon at 17 Vedic Virgo/10 western Libra
Sade Sate:
Note that Sade Sate occurs as Saturn transits through the sign before the sign occupied by the Moon in our Vedic birth chart, the sign of the Moon and the sign after the Moon. This process takes seven and a half years, and is often a death and rebirth experience and a period of fraught separations and mental tensions. With Saturn now transiting PurvaAshadha, this means that those people with Moon in PurvaAshadha are in the centre of their Sade Sate experience.
I have enjoyed writing this newsletter. I hope you will find it useful. To take this further, book an astrology reading with me, or enroll on one of my many very informative and invaluable astrology courses.
