Its aim is to present a depiction from Maggie’s vast range of Healing Techniques, offered both in our Centre – and Worldwide using technologies such as Skype and Zoom

And also the whole thrust of Michael’s Astrology: expert Vedic and Western Astrology for each month. Never be formulaic: but a gateway to our Healing and Empowerment. A key to understanding and working with our karmic scripts. Orientated to our achieving that special spark which our soul chose for us to seek to learn to manifest this time.

First of all: Healing:

Hypnotherapy from Maggie Pashley – the easy way to keep to your New Year’s goals or to make desired changes to your life in 2018

The turn of the year invites many people to choose something different, something healthier, wiser, more abundant, more ease-filled and yet by mid-January most ‘resolutions’ have already fallen by the wayside.

There can be different reasons for that. Maybe they weren’t really our goals in the first place – just what we thought we should be expected to want or to try and please somebody else.

Maybe we weren’t motivated enough to make the change and we fell back to the more familiar patterns of our life. Maybe we have a pattern of self-sabotage so that we can’t allow ourselves to succeed or go beyond what we have been or believe we can have and be. Or maybe we just ran out of steam because relying on will power alone is exhausting and hard.

The good news is that hypnotherapy can make making those desired changes easy or at least much easier.

As a hypnotherapist of many years I’ve helped people do lots of things more easily than they thought possible. I’ve helped people give up smoking, pass driving tests, pass driving instructor tests (yes they get to be on the other side too), have healthier eating habits, find exercise enjoyable, have better sex, win a boxing competition, take the stress out of IVF, give birth more easily, release phobias of flying, spiders, going out and more unusual fears, stop being haunted by trauma, learn better at school and a whole host of other things. A real mixed bag and I’ve met some delightful, courageous and willing clients who knew there should be more to life and were open enough to give hypnotherapy a go.

Hypnotherapy is effective as it harnesses the power of our own unconscious mind. Our unconscious is amazing. It runs all the different systems of our body, keeps us safe, helps us learn from life’s experiences, drive our car without thinking through every manoeuvre and on and on. All those things that we do habitually are guided by our unconscious, so it makes sense that when we want to change a habit then communicating with the unconscious is essential. And when we engage with our unconscious to make those changes, they seem natural, easy and even enjoyable.

My job as a hypnotherapist is to engage with my client’s unconscious mind, to use compelling, sensory language to create new desired experiences and to allow my client’s unconscious guide them there as elegantly as possible.

It is reminding my clients of all their resources, skills and natural abilities that they can bring to bear on the present problem. It is uncovering unconscious blocks – behaviours which may have a positive intent in some way but which actually limit choice and the ability to succeed.

It is dissolving old traumas so that the past doesn’t haunt and contaminate the present.

I love doing hypnotherapy as during a session I have to go into a mild trance state myself which is highly enjoyable. Most of my clients find their sessions surprisingly pleasurable. They go away with more confidence, insights and clarity, less pain, feeling more relaxed in their body and it is wonderful for me to see the change as they walk out my door, or we end the on-line session. And if you have ever wondered who is in charge in a session, it is YOU. You will only do what feels right for you and won’t do anything that goes against your values and what is important to you. At the same time your mind can become more open to recognising far more choices than it thought were available.

The Astrology of January 2018 from Michael Conneely

There now follows a helpful summary of what the energies of the planets in January 2018 mean in our consciousness and in our life: what energies we may need to bring Healing to; what energies we can maximise for our empowerment.

Here is the Part 1 video for January 2018 Astrology:

Here is the Part 2 video for January 2018 Astrology:

We start our journey to perceive and work with the energies of January 2018 with the Transit of Uranus:

1. Uranus

For some people, Uranus will be the star performer in January 2018.
After a long Retrograde, Uranus is on station at the start of the month. This is at 0 degrees Vedic Aries, using the Sidereal Zodiac and at 24 Western Aries using the Tropical Zodiac. He turns Direct on January 3rd.
Uranus is a God of Change. He is a Lord of Karma. If you have a planet in this area or opposite it – especially if that planet’s your Sun or Moon (or both!!!), this means driven revolution: the chance to manifest your own very special spark.
Or for youngsters around age 21, they will be having their revolutionary ‘Uranus Square: Transiting Uranus is square to their natal Uranus, and there could be a big move of house or career. And of course, there’s the Uranus Opposition and other Square to watch out for too in your predictive astrology!
But remember, Uranus’ energy is driven and inhuman, so you have to be careful of how you treat yourself and others.
Uranus is inspiration, and the inspiration can be sudden like lightning strike, or intermittent like beams of sunlight filtering through the branches of the trees.
Be careful not to stay in your own very special Saturn blocked scripts, tramlines or alternatively prison – and so be careful not to fail to express the inspiration Uranus is favouring you with. If you don’t express it, your life will be left incomplete and bereft.
Uranus to Moon brings up Mother issues and move of house.
Note that the last time a Uranus’ transit into Aries occurred in the past meant the Burning of the Reichstag, the rise of Adolph Hitler, and the Second World War.

2. Saturn

So, 2018 starts with Saturn, maybe Chief Lord of our Karma, at 7 deg Vedic Sagittarius (1 deg Western Capricorn). Saturn reaches 17 deg Vedic Sagittarius by end 2018 and Saturn transits through Jupiter’s sign of Sagittarius until mid-2022.
Saturn is contractive. Sagittarius is expansive, so all the while we will be encouraged (or pressurised) to find working balance between expansion and contraction, and get the containers and structures right in our consciousness and in all the areas of our life, especially the area of our life defined by the House that Sagittarius is in our Vedic birth chart.
Saturn’s energy demands of us patience and hard work and fulfilling our karmic responsibilities. His reward is either grim reaping or golden reaping, depending on how we fulfill his demands. Negatively, he’s cementing ourselves into our blocks, limitations and blinkers – not to mention our fears!
Saturn entered Vedic Sagittarius on 26th October 2017, passing through the immaterial, uncertain, confidence-lacking but potentially inspirational Gandanta Zone that is at 4 deg either side of the junction of the transition points from Vedic Water Signs to Vedic Fires Signs, also entering therefore the 19th Nakshatra: Mula. Mula is ruled over by the Dark Goddess, Niritti.
And The energies of Saturn and Niritti couldn’t be much more different!
And so the dance of the Dark Goddess demands that we smash Saturn blocks that we should no longer cling it.
Whereas, at the same time Saturn is still demanding of you that you obey his hard laws.
What a difficult conflicting demand.
But Vedic astrology is Tantric. It is all about the achievement of enlightened perception by the reconciliation of apparent opposites.
So, if we can get it together and have the needed authenticity and courage, Saturn’s entry into Mula is a time where we can ride two very different horses at once: diligence and structure, coupled with inspirational Death and rebirth!

Saturn and Venus: Also Note that Saturn and Venus are both together briefly in Sagittarius at this time, and so this can be good financial/property/inheritance news for Vedic Cancer Ascendant people, whose 4th and 11th Houses are ruled by Venus, and whose 7th and 8th Houses are ruled by Saturn.

Ashtama Shani: Saturn is transiting Vedic Sagittarius in the year ahead. If Vedic Sagittarius
is the 8th from the House occupied by the Moon in your birth chart, this will be Ashtama Shani: Saturn transits 8th House from Moon, and you really do need to know what this means and how to handle it! Get a Reading. You need to hear how to handle Saturn’s transit of your 22nd Drekkana at this time.

Sade Sate: As I said, Saturn is transiting Vedic Sagittarius in the year ahead.
If your Moon is in Vedic Sagittarius in your Vedic Birth Chart, well, you are in the middle of Sade Sate and you really do need to know what that means and how to handle it, and it is such a good idea to get a timetable of your Sade Sate energies from me to see: when are the really difficult times? when are the phases of ‘fool’s paradise times’? what does Sade Sate mean for you individually and particularly in your life? It’s a time of separations and despondence and being cut off from God’s grace with the divine purpose of thus being made to see yourself as you really are, and do something about that.
If your Moon in your birth chart is in Vedic Scorpio, then you are now entering the final two and a half years of Sade Sate. Learn how to handle that.
If your Moon in your birth chart is in Vedic Capricorn, then you are starting the seven and a half years Sade Sate, and you would do very well indeed to get a reading of guidance about that!!!

Saturn Return: And note that if you are around age 28 or 59, you will be having your SATURN Return, and I can give you great guidance about that that means.

Planets in Vedic Gemini? N.B. With Saturn transiting in Vedic Sagittarius all 2018, it’s going to be a hard, tough year for those people with Sun or Moon, and other planets, in Vedic Gemini in their birth chart. The Nakshatras affected by this are Mrigashira, Ardra and Punarvasu.

3. The Nodes of the Moon: Rahu/North Node and Ketu/South Node:

Rahu entered Vedic Cancer at the time of the violent August 2017 Eclipses, and in so doing Rahu went then went through another of the three Gandanta Zones: Leo to Cancer (Rahu’s motion is always retrograde).
This was at around the same time as Saturn (above) went through the Scorpio to Sagittarius Gandanta zone, thus increasing the feeling of insecurity and almost ‘drowning.
And as described above, this is at the same time as Uranus is transiting in the Pisces-Aries Gandanta Zone, so this can make us feel weak and insecure if we have planets in these three Gandanta Zones, and yet we can hopefully find great Meaning and Inspiration at this weird time, if we know how to look for it and identify it.
And just to add to the intense Gandanta energy activation, Mercury is transiting through the Vedic Scorpio-Sagittarius Gandanta zone from 1st – 9th January to (crossing into Vedic Sagittarius on 7th January).

Rahu’s energy is driven, and even more so if Cancer is your 1st House! And Rahu can be surrounded with the smoke of delusion. We need his energy to push forward to realize our incarnational goals in this lifetime, but we must not fall into the abyssal traps he opens up.
So, if Cancer is your first house, you will be driven feverishly to express yourself, whereas Ketu, always opposite Rahu, might spiritualize your 7th house of relationship, or even blow it open.
And if, for example, Rahu is transiting over your Sun at this time, you will be driven to express yourself more powerfully and successfully in all areas.
Because Rahu is transiting in the sign of Cancer, we will have quite a driven desire for emotional security in 2018, and we need to honour this.
And beware that Ketu transiting through Capricorn could impair your commitment to your material security. Beware Pollyanna or Drain.
And here’s another example: if Capricorn is your 4th House, transit there could make your home more spiritual, but you would need to be aware of the Ketu’s risk of lack of confidence about your roots of life.
The Nodes remain in the Vedic Cancer / Capricorn axis until 7th March 2019. Then, the Node change sign to the Gemini – Sagittarius axis, transiting there for about eighteen months, and following this change in the nodal axis, it has meant in the past that a booming economy gets replaced by an economic collapse.

Planets Square the Nodal Axis: Note that both Jupiter and Mars are square the Nodal Axis at this time. This means that any child born around this time will have the energy qualities and scripts of those two planets as Karmic missed steps: qualities they did not get right last life-time: qualities with a special demand to get right this lifetime.

Kal Sarpa Yoga: Talking of the Nodes of the Moon, do note that the Kal Sarpa Yoga is in force in January 2018. Realistically, the Kal Sarpa Yoga energy should be said to be extant in the Heavens until 15th February.
Kal Sarpa Yoga is when all the Vedic planets are to one side of the chart between Rahu/North node and Ketu/South Node.
This can create divisiveness and perpetual phases of insecurity and fluctuation. This is partly because for half of each month the Moon is within the other planets, and for the other part of each month the Moon is out in the untenanted half of the chart, meaning that the Moon is alone and unsupported in the Heavens, giving rise to obsessions, fears, doubts etc.
It creates a very big spiritual and consciousness and also relationships challenge in the chart of a child to be born at the time of Kal Sarpa Yoga.
12th January: Saturn is conjunct Mercury

4. Jupiter:

Jupiter has been transiting through Vedic Libra from 12.9.2017, bringing his enlargement, purpose and blessing to the area of life represented by libra in your Vedic birth chart, so for example if libra is your 4th House, you could have a beneficial move of home and or do loads of home beauty and improvements.
Jupiter in Libra bring general growth in relationships and creativity.
Jupiter is opposition Uranus: And note that Jupiter is still opposition Uranus in Vedic Aries, so for Aries and Libra people, this can mean sudden expansion. Uranus is Retrograde at the start of 2018, but soon goes direct, so watch out for, be open to Inspiration and Revolution, and sudden forward impetus to burst out of your prison walls, tear up your tramlines, and move forward in the realization of that special talent your soul chose for you to work to manifest and express yourself in this lifetime!
January 15th : Jupiter sextile Pluto.
Jupiter moves from Vedic Libra to Vedic Scorpio on October 11th, 2018. There is therefore a transition in Jupiter’s manifestation from the idealism and beauty of Libra to the hurt secretiveness and aggression of Scorpio.

5. Mars:

Mars is transiting Vedic Libra in the first half of January 2018, so if you have say Sun or Ascendant there, be on the lookout for sudden incidents or bursts of aggression! Or enforced manic overwork, or even lack of confidence if you don’t easily handle Mars energies.
6th Jan: Mars is conjunct Jupiter. These two become conjunct in Vishakha Nakshatra, whose symbol is the triumphal arch. Vishakha is ruled by Jupiter and its power animal is the male tiger, so this could be a good hinge time of success and power for those with planets in Vishakha.

However, Mars enters Vedic Scorpio on January 16th, and Scorpio is one of the two signs he rules.
So, this means that Mars will be strong, but watch out for his energy being caught up in tortured undercurrents or secret or obscured agendas. Seek clarity. Seek to define strategy. Don’t be precipitate.
Note that Mars will be in 6/8 aspect to Uranus in Aries while he is in Scorpio, so this is violent irritable energy in your consciousness and life, and at the geopolitical level could mean terrorist attacks and earthquakes.
How exactly the transit of Mars through Vedic Scorpio will affect you will depend on what House Scorpio is when counted both from your natal Lagna (Ascendant) and Moon Sign

Looking ahead, Mars enters Vedic Sagittarius on 7.3.18
Note that Mars and Saturn are conjunct in the Heavens from March 7th to May 2nd. This is not a good combination as these two pit themselves against each other and fight each other: energy of assertion fights against blocks and sensible structures! Anger and frustration!
And note that Mars energy becomes more and more problematic and vicious as 2018 unfolds with eclipses, conjunction to Ketu and Mars energies on hold during a Retrograde!

6. Venus:

Venus is transiting in Vedic Sagittarius conjunct the Sun, and so this is not good for love because the Sun combusts Venus, meaning that scorched egoic force burns gentle sweetness of loving Venus.

But Venus transits past the Sun from January 9th thus steadily improving her position freeing herself from the burning Combust.

From January 9th, Venus conjucnts the Sun in the heavens. She thus achieves Superior Conjunction and from now on until moves ahead of the Sun, beginning to be seen in the western sky as Evening Star. This journey of Venus was given especial reverence in ancient Sumeria, expressed as Inanna’s descent into the underworld: she was stripped naked and made to face her grief, then to re-arise.
So, around 9th January: do look for Renewal in Venusian matters of relationships and beauty.

Venus transits away from Vedic Sagittarius into Vedic Capricorn on January 14th.
Venus will pass by Ketu on January 30th around the time of the January 31st eclipse, Venus transiting here conjucnt Ketu south node exactly on January 29th which will mean difficult challenge for love scripts for those who have planets that are affected by this Conjunction.
However, Venus then heads further away from the Sun, to become more free during February.

7. Mercury:

Mercury starts the month in Vedic Scorpio, and is transiting through the Vedic Scorpio-Sagittarius Gandanta zone from 1st – 9th January.
He crosses into Vedic Sagittarius on 7th January, where his energies are slowed then blocked by his conjuncting Saturn.
Mercury and Saturn are exactly conjunct in the Heavens on 12th January.
Mercury transits Sagittarius in company with Venus and Sun as well as Saturn, so: depending on what House Sagittarius is in your Vedic birth chart, this could possibly be a good time for writing.
Mercury then enters Vedic Capricorn on January 27th.

8. Sun:

Sun enters Vedic Capricorn on January 14th. sun is the King of our Kingdom. We need a strong Sun. Saturn is blocks and pessimism and had lessons. During Sun’s transit through Vedic Capricorn and Aquarius, these two opposite energies combine for us to learn our sobering and important lessons.

9. Lunations:

Full Moon January 2nd: It’s in Ardra Nakshatra, ruled by fierce demonic Rahu in Vedic Gemini, so given the stormy nature of Ardra, this Full Moon could be experienced as wipe-out and stormy! Ardra is ruled by Rudra the Storm God, whose name means He who cries. He was the son of Shiva: independent and me first; scowling. Wait for calm then gather the pieces together!!!! Beware the possibility of vicious driven tunnel-visioned assertion that is in Ardra. So, for example if your ascendant or Moon is Vedic Cancer, this transit could be good for things to do with children and it will be good for creative work.

New Moon in Capricorn January 17th at 03.17 hrs. This is in UttaraAshadha Nakshatra. Sun, Moon and Venus are all closely conjunct. Ketu South Node is also in Capricorn, and Mercury enters Capricorn on January 27th.

The Full Moon Eclipse on 31st January 2018.

It looks ghastly!

This Eclipse occurs at 11 deg western Leo or 16 Vedic Cancer. It’s right on top of my natal Pluto!!!!!!!!!!!

Moon is in Ashlesha Nakshatra
Sun is in Sravana Nakshatra
Ascendant is in Ardra Nakshatra
Venus is conjunct Ketu! Planets transiting across the Nodes are forced to let go of something significant it terms of how we handle that planet in our life.

Note very importantly that there is another Eclipse in Ashlesha on 11th August 2018, also in Vedic Cancer (16 deg Western Leo).

Ashlesha is difficult Serpent energy: fears, phobias, obsessions and compulsions: hurt energies, but with potential for shamanic ‘death and rebirth’.

There’s a great need to clear the decks and plan to sustain a calm environment at the time of this Eclipse.
Ashlesha’s shakti is the healing potential that is in poison. Avoid anything toxic at this time. Perceive the toxin in you unconscious. Heal and empower on the basis of that perception.
N.B. To see the Vedic and Western charts for this Eclipse, go to the Blog version of this newsletter.

Because the eclipsed Moon is so close to Rahu transiting through Cancer, this will be a difficult time for maintain stability of mind. Be careful around the end of January and the beginning of February.

And note that Uranus is square Pluto in the heavens at the same time! URANUS/PLUTO: Revolution. The collapse of the old order. The process of transformation.
Psychologically, its restlessness. Activity. Creative energy. Flight from the establishment. Innovation, reform. A strong awareness of purpose and objective. Mobility. Creative power. Untiring effort. Endurance. daring and foolhardiness. Striving for new things. Extraordinary powers of creation and
performance.
Negatively, it’s impatience. Scatter of energies. Fanaticism. Violence. Precipitate action. The mania of destruction
Biologically, it’s changes in rhythm of biological processes. The relationship between pulse and
breathing. Fever spots.
Sociologically, the Uranus-Pluto energy enhances: pioneers, reformers. People who are very much out of the ordinary or who are endowed with universal genius.
URANUS-PLUTO PROBABLE MANIFESTATIONS:
+ the attainment of great objectives by immense application of effort. Bringing new things into
being. The creation of new conditions of living
– Acts of violence. Subversive activities. Putting a gun to someone’s head. The enforcement of
decisions. An accident.
